• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Ground polygon problem

Hi,

Recently I have created ground poly with blender. I was able to import it in MCX. Unfortunately after mapping with diffuse texture, the model is not converted.

If I convert the model without mapping with texture it works perfectly in Fsx. The file size around 42kb.

If I map the model with texture it doesn't convert completely. The file size only 216bytes. But there is no any errors shown in MCX.

Please help to solve it. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

What is the content of the log when you have problems converting the model?

Hi @arno,

Thanks for your reply.

Below is the screenshot of the problem.

Hi,

In your last screenshot I only see part of the log about saving the BGL file. If you scroll up are there other warnings or errors in there? This part looks OK.

Also in your screenshot with the textured model loaded, the GPW only shows materials with colours. Did you load your previous setting maybe? I would expect to see the texture names there.

If you see the screenshot below, i have loaded all the texture, but the GPW not showing the texture but only shows materials with colours.

Hi @arno,

I think i found a problem on the latest developent MCX file. There might be a bug for the issue with the textured model loaded and the GPW only shows materials with colours (sorry if i am wrong). The previous images above are all made with the modelconverterx latest development release. It doesn't shows the texture name in GPW after loaded in Material Editor.

This issue is not found on the stable version of MCX. I able to convert into .bgl file and it works perfectly. Below are the screenshots made with stable MCX.

Please do clarify this issue. Do apologise if i am wrong. Thank you

Hi,

Let me check if I can reproduce it.

Hi,

I just loaded a model with textures in the GPW on my machine, but the textures show up fine in the list of materials. So is there anything specific in your workflow that I might have missed?

Hi @arno

Is it you use the latest development MCX? or the stable version?

I have uploaded my .dae file for you to test. Please download and test it out with your MCX. Let me know if it works in your MCX.

I'm using the latest development release, the stable release is way too old (I need to make a new stable release soon, if I can find some time).

I'll test your file tonight.

Hi,

I just had a look at your model, but when I load it in MCX I see no textures. When I inspect the DAE file in a text editor I also don't see any mention of textures in there. So I guess you must have exported not all the information. Also in the stable release 1.3 I don't see any textures.

Thanks for the info @arno. Can you please guide which option should i checked before exporting it in blender?

I have never used blender myself, so you need to ask that on the blender subforum I guess.

I would try the obvious ones, like Include UV Textures and Include Material Textures?

Hi @arno,

Thanks for the info. I manage to get it by following @tgibson advice. Thank you for both.

But when I checked the "Include UV Textures and Include Material Textures", the MCX only showing the textures in merge form with materials.

For example: I have set different materials for each of the lines as follow:

Material 1: Taxiway double line (The side Line)
Material 2: Taxiway Line (The middle Line)
Material 3: Stop Marking
*All these share single texture image

MCX.PNG

But after save it into DAE File, the material and texture shows as below:

GPW.PNG

Material Editor.PNG

I am not able to move the Material 3: Rwy Stop Line above the taxiway middle line. In other words, all the materials have been merged into one single texture file and not able to load it seperately. If you see this image: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/attachments/3-png.33887/ there are few materials where i can set the layers for each of it.

These are the list of materials and texture in Blender:

Texture list:

Please guide me how can I do that.

Hi,

In MCX you are setting the layer per texture, not per material. So you can't give different priority to polygons with the same texture. That's how the GPW was designed.

That mean we need seperate dae file to set the layer of same texture with different materials?
