• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Introduction to MSFS SDK (scenery)

Initially the SDK was working but now whenever I click the Load in Editor button the sim crashes. I was trying to reload my already created project and it crashed. Then tried deleting those files and creating a new project from scratch again. Same result... the sim crashes to desktop. I've re-installed the SDK with no success. I just get a continued crash to desktop. This is the only error log I can find:

Yeah, will have to take a look in that!
It seems that there is no option to add frequencies using the editor yet, but I was able to add them by manually editing the source XML after saving it and just before compiling

hello, thank you very much for creating this guide, my only missing issue is that once you create any polygon I am not able to have it reload it if I ever close the scenery editor

do you have any idea what Im missing?

thanks
could u elaborate?

I create a sample scenery with one object and one exlcusion polygon, I then save it and close the sim

Opening the sim again and reloading the project results in only the object appearing in the scenery (and scenery editor) but the polygon is completely missing

I give up for now. No matter what I do every time I click Load In Editor the sim crashes to desktop. I deleted all of my project files and followed this document completely again and it crashed when I click Load in Editor. Something is wrong with my sim or SDK. SMH... I have put in a report to ZenDesk of these continued crashes.

you seem to be the only on ethat has crashes. I would reinstall the sdk and try again. :)! Better luck next time!

I do seem to be the only one. I already re-installed the SDK though and it still crashes. Funny, I never had crashes in the Alpha/Beta but with the release version and SDK it's crashing.

Guys, there was an update to the SDK last night I think, not sure if its relevant but its now 0.5.1

Just had the Sim crash when dragging the dev tools to get them to dock. Also, I can't find the "Objects" window in order to display it. Any ideas? Found it in Scenery editor>View

So my airport (RAE Bedford - EGVW) has had its ICAO code assigned to Tillingham Airstrip... which is basically an unmarked field. I know RAE Bedford has been closed for years now, but assigning a full ICAO code to a field is silly. Not sure what to do now, guess another ICAO code that was spare and hope it hasn't been allocated to another field.

How about XGVW ? :scratchch

FYI: The Xxxx series of ICAOs is used for some former RAF airfields in UK by some FS addons in the past.

Think of it like an "eX-Parrot". ;)

I guess so, something like EG01?
I’ve used EG99 but I’ve done something in my exclude that’s causing it to crash, but it did work prior to that. I’m going to give it another go later, but the key thing is it works. Huge thanks to @DragoB

Hopefully this can be edited. If they've done a lot of this kind of reallocation, it could cause all sorts of problems for those of us who recreate now-closed military fields.

It’s a mess, the more I dig the worse it gets. No idea how bad it is in other countries but for airfields without official ICAO (or a valid historical one) they should have gone with 2X## or similar.

anyway, back to polygons and exclusions. If I do an exclusion with exclude all over an existing airfield, does it have the effect of removing the airport?

When you create a polygon, you must save the polygon in a separate file, in these docs, we wrote that you should name it "airport-icao-poly", replacing icao with your airport's ICAO code.

So my exclusion and water poly's seem to have sort of worked. But some areas seem to still be thereAnnotation 2020-08-22 134935.jpg

You can still see taxiway markings (and the AI from EGBF) Is there any way to hide EGBF (The airfield underneath?)
