Hey
I have a 'problem' regarding ZGGG, that i've managed to solve for now but that i would like like to know why it happens in the first place in case it happens again with another airport.
So I'm making a complete redesign of existing FS9 airports in China and creating many that aren't in the stock scenery (either by MS's lapse or them being post- '05); and i've managed to successfully change the location of 2 airports to their new real world one (ZPPP & ZSYT) using this method: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=Changing_Airport_ICAO
Now i know that method is used to 'erase' stock airports, but the thing is it can also be done to move airports! Instead of moving them to the NPole or the middle of the ocean, you input new one's location coordinates in the ICAO_ARP.bgl (as described in that tutorial), which you then put in the Scenery/World/scenery folder. I also create an AFCAD for the 'old' airport with ICAO's such as ZPP1, ZSY1 & ZGG1 because i like to keep the old airports even if they have been built over by now.
The problem is i tried to do the same for ZGGG, updating Jan Martin's AF_ZGGG file from "jetways and terminals" to include the new terminal and 3rd runway, and i used the same method to try and move the stock ZGGG to the new one's location, and it didn't work! My ZGG1 airport shows up on top of the stock ZGGG, while the actual new ZGGG is a couple miles northward! As if i had simply tried to change the icao of the stock airport with AFX :/
I've thought of every possible way my limited knowledge affords me as to why it didn't work, including checking if the method was flawed and only worked for stock airports which don't share their AP9XXXXX.bgl with another airport; to which i verified in the Scenery/asia folder that while ZPPP is alone in AP975230.bgl, ZSYT shares it's AP980180.bgl file with ZYTL, so that's not the issue!
I ended up solving the problem using Jan Martin's own 'patch' file for ZGGG that changed the AP file itself in the asia folder, that replaced the stock icao from ZGGG to ZGGO, but i would like to know exactly why this happens, as i'll probably have to move some more stock airports in China (they've been building new airports like crazy!!) and i'm afraid i might encounter the same problem that i did in ZGGG :/
Any ideas? All and every help would be appreciated! I use AFX & ADE9 (for objects only mostly)
Thanks in advance
Leonardo
