Hello guys
Some of you might have heard or read about smart dock for P3D V4+, I posted about it in 2019 on this thread in the show room!
I have been searching for a VDGS Engine for MSFS, and I couldn't find one that satisfies my need for perfect parking guidance + real-world simulation of various specifications of different units and their degree of accuracy, so I have decided to go back to my dear smart dock for P3D V4, and try to find a way to implement it in MSFS. The process was complex due to the differences in the SDK of the two big flight sims, so I decided to start with a prototype that would simulate the parking procedure only, and see what msfs has to offer to make a final decision on whether I would develop the complete addon, or just stick to default marshaler. Well, the results are finally here :
This is a docking simulation of a SafeGate T2-24 unit (the art work is light for experimental purposes, the final product will look totally different....the rendering distance should be improved too).
the following images showcase the precision of the parking:
Please note that the precision varies due to unit accuracy, pilot input / reaction time, airport data accuracy.
You can see that the distance to stop point information is missing, I didn't want to work on this just yet, because I have a new plan when it comes to text rendering, I am working on a new logic that would give the distance information in meters/feet, unlike the p3d version where the only distance information you had was in meters.
The outcome of this experiment is processing, and I will be working on the complete addon, being SmartDock V1 for MSFS
This might take some time, but it's worth it!
I will be posting more often regarding the development of the addon and the simulation of the individual units / VDGS models, note that this Addon uses a specific behavior profile for each unit model.
Please do tell me your thoughts on my upcoming project and ask me your questions as scenery developers/end users, I will be more than happy to answer them.
Cheers
