• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Suggestions for Future Version 2012

There is a function available in ADE Tools > Libraries Used. It does not provide a printout but it does list any third party libraries that a user would need.

Well I am aware of that. That was what I meant by "hand logging" the Libraries Used. The question was requesting csv export if that function is easily added to your next iteration.

What about a "Library" column in your Object List export csv?

Obie

Can I make a plea that it lists all libraries used, including the default libraries.

I am sure it has been mentioned before but here goes..

1. BAK-12/13/14 Aressting markings.. (Markings only with a placed "node")
2. Carrier Marking option in "Runway Markings" section with the other options.
3. Runway and Taxiway shoulder or edge pavement changeeable if at all possible or default around 25 feet.
4. Be able to select the edge/apron surface different from the runway surface.
5. Ability to select the first 1000 feet of runway as concrete which is very common.
6. Enhanced Taxi lines leading up to "Hold Short" nodes.
7. Ability to extend the hold short line beyond the taxiway/runway surface onto edge/apron.
8. Add "Chevrons" to the taxi and runway aprons.
9. Ability to change the angle of the hold short line.
10. When "closing" a runway, yellow "X's" the entire length or the runway and possibly a lighted yellow "X" at the ends for night operations/
11. Possibly a runway surface to select as "under construction" with maybe "rubble" "debris" intermittent dirt/paved areas??

Just a few ideas that I would love to have...

Thanks for everything you have done so far for us Scruffy!!!

Well, it is really FS that limits us to not being able to do this with the default options. The runways and such that change as imaged are usually created in GMAX.
Questions 1-2 would have to be custom made objects unless I have missed something. If you can locate the default carrier stuff, then you may be able to use that.
3 is limited to the FS draw engine. Anything beyond that limitation is custom made runways. Shoulder markings on runways or taxiways are not default options of FS.
4 again draw engine limitation. Custom made objects
5-8 are limitations of FS draw.
9 is able to be done based on direction of the taxiline. There are alternate methods to get what you want done, but it requires some playin around with ADE.
10 is by default. Anything else is custom. FS does not do this by default.
11 is a custom thing as well. FS does not have this option.
The FS limitations do require custom items to achieve most of your request.

ADE could incorporate, but would require additional programs and stuff to do it without errors.
Most of what you requested are available as objects on the sim sites.

My request for a CARRIER outline tool is just so I can see where the carrier flight deck is when I am laying out the carrier. FS does not know about it and has no need too.

First I place the runway. The I place the starts.

But the static model of the carrier is larger than the carrier. I would like to know where the deck is so I can more easily place static objects on it.

If this CARRIER outline you want is not in FS, how is ADE supposed to create it? You can create an outline yourself using the Guideline feature.

If the CARRIER is visible in FS, then you can use the Connect button in the upper right to connect to FS (an aircraft image will appear on your screen where your plane is in FS), and then move your plane around the visible FS carrier and draw your Guidelines based on that.

I did not know about the guidelines and position markers. They will probably do what I need.

why not incorp a way to see the model, like in MCX, when its loaded into ADE. Have an option in menu to SEE MODEL (topdown of coarse, as 3D interface would be more complex)
I think this would have major benefits.

At the same time, you could add a grid to model/library objects box to make it easier to line them up.

sounds good, but might be time consuming to set up.

That is certainly on the list :)

Three more suggestions:

1) Don't allow locked parking locations to be moved by dragging an attached and unlocked path

2) Change (or add an option) to extend/rotate a runway from the primary end center rather than the center of length. When I'm trying to line up both ends against background images its easier just to align at one end and then extend as far as needed

3) Still allow us to select a specific listing window from the menu but then once that window is open allow us to change the list type from within that window rather than having to close and open a new one.

Hi Drew

Great ideas I will add them to my list.

Hi,

I second the second suggestion. Think that may save a lot of time when trying to align runways correctly.

If possible, when creating a fuel trigger it would be great if it would automatically match the Services tab of the Airport Properties.

Added to the list. I don't think there is any control to stop more than one fuel trigger being added - if so how would we deal with that? Is it possible that fuel triggers in different parts of the airport would have different fuels available? If so then I guess ADE would run a check on all fuel triggers and check those all those services found?

well, mainly for me I set the properties of the airport first, so that's when I reference what fuel types are available. I usually add fuel triggers in the final stages of development, so it saves me from having to go look at what services are offered. Even if I'm setting up different stations at least I have the default full range of services to choose from pre-loaded from the airport properties

Two 'small' requests:

A tool for getting rid of airport plateau's and holes created when using FSGenesis mesh with default mesh - it applies to both FSX and FS9, although effects are worst in FS9.

A tool for converting FSX sceneries created using ADE so that these can be used in FS9.

Thanks!
