• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Suggestions for Future Version 2012

How about the following. Could be coded into a polygon to overlay the aprons, taxiways, and runway edges
Taxi/runway Shoulder markings

Continuous Markings= These consist of a continuous double yellow line, with each line being at least 6 inches (15 cm) in width spaced 6 inches (15 cm) apart. They are used to define the taxiway edge from the shoulder or some other abutting paved surface not intended for use by aircraft.

Zipper style road marking (for FS9 since FSx has this already built in)

Painted ON PAVEMENT taxi markings/signs
enhanced taxiway centerline as a checkmark option (regulations cover 200 ft of a taxiway ending at a runway, but it would be user choice)

Distance remaining signs for a runway. (I want to say this is already an option but i cant remember.)

aim 2.3 http://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/atpubs/aim/aim0203.html#aim0203.html.1

We are limited to what the SDK and compiler allow us to do. I think some of these are not possible with the compiler alone. There are tools that enhance markings but I am not sure how they work.

I have been upgrading some FS2004 modules to work with FSX.

One problem I have been having is replacing the FS2K4 trees with FSX trees.

It is very tedious time consuming process.

What would be nice is a "REPLACE ALL" function in the Scenery Object list function.

Be able to select all of a given item and replace all of them with a new item.

Hi Bob

That is on the list :)

A neww option that would be interesting, is the possibility to copy APRON (polygone object), and ROTATE them.

The current beta allows copy and paste of aprons. We have looked at rotating aprons and it is on the development list :)

Jon,

On the ZOOM could you make ADE highlight the current zoom level when you right click on ZOOM?

The current zoom level is always displayed in the status bar. But I guess that is not what you mean............

I have been using ADE for many years now and I have not paid attention to the status bar!

My suggestion is just to highlight the current zoom level when you right click for zoom. It's a normal Windows programming feature so it is not difficult.

True

However since you can set the zoom level to anything you like with the mouse wheel or keyboard - and the Right Click > Zoom offers only a few settings - what would we highlight?

Er, why? What is in a number?

Maybe I just don't know how to use the zoom.

Wit windows when you get a list of options it is common to highlight the current setting.

What I am trying to say is that when the zoom list box opens if the current level is 25% then highlight the 25% option.

If you have a mouse with a wheel, rolling the wheel will change the zoom level in small increments. If you do not have a mouse wheel then then the +/- keys on the numeric pad will change zoom as will the +/- (-/=) keys on the normal keyboard (no shift key required). As a result of these methods and the right click > zoom option it is possible to get any zoom level from very very small:

to a bit over 100

To put this into context Right Click > Zoom 100% is the same as a Zoom level in the status bar of 1.0. So the maximum zoom level available from the right click menu is 5.0 (500%) displayed on the status bar. It might be better if we made the scaling and zoom values consistent between the right click menu and the status bar though :o

On the status bar 1.0 represents a screen scale of 1 meter per pixel. So 100 represents 1cm per pixel. Pretty much any value of zoom from 0.00000001 to 100+ can be achieved via the different key combinations and the mouse wheel. So while I agree with you that it is easy enough to highlight an option in the right click menu unles you are using that exclusively (which is very limiting) then it is very unlikely that the current value will match one of the options. It idea behind the menu options was to allow the user to get back to a known value quickly if they had either zoomed in or out a long way.

No problem :) The manual is your friend - section 5.1

Hi Jon,

Another taxiway designator request. Would it be possible to merge designators. Quite often you come across 2 or 3 identical letters when you open a stock airport and it would make life easier if you could select them and merge them into one letter.

not really a good idea!! :)
this is done for a specific reason,
many airports have a number of identical letters,
for example take a look at KJFK, the are many A's and B's, i think at least 10 each from memory........
this tells ATC exactly where an aircraft is, so you don't end up with a Mexican stand off if they were merged into one letter..........
many airports need more than one for this reason especially the larger airports
I add more at many of my busy airport designs to keep traffic flowing better

can you elaborate on this?

A suggestion would be to allow Simmers to access information at "FSX Commercial Aircraft Wing Span Values" I found it very helpful. Frank!

There is not much point if the AI aircraft designer used a different value.

The only valid value is in the aircraft.cfg.
