• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Suggestions for Future Version 2012

Now George that is actually a very good idea. I will look at changing the target menu for that plugin.

This may not be a big deal to some, but in the color picker slider menu, the ability to display and enter numeric RGB values for the colors and percentages for transparency? I'd like to know the specific numerical value of a color before I change it, just in case I don't like my change and want to get back to where I had started. To have the number values would be easier than counting hash marks from left to right. Same goes for the transparency slider.

And kind of along the same lines, maybe include a "return to default" button, so if I totally screw up the color selection, something that can return me to the original pretty quickly would be nice.

Thanks,

-- John

Added to the list :)

This thread is quite large ... I didn't read it all ... if the following have already been suggested, then I apologise.

1) Is it possible to allow COPYING and PASTING via Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V instead of having to right-click and choose those options. (Yes, I realise those key combinations are already mapped to other features - but I constantly find myself pressing Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V on my keyboard and getting frustrated that these are not set as COPY and PASTE.)

2) Something I often wish for is a "Snap to" feature.

As in ... "Snap to Guideline". You place a guideline, draw something (say, an apron), and then choose "Snap To Guideline"; whereapon your apron moves and snaps cleanly on to the guideline. No more trying to drag and line things up correctly and perfectly next to guidelines. "Snap to Guideline" does it for you. (The way I would possibly do this would be to snap the closest two apron vertexes on to the guideline and leave all of the others un-moved ... or perhaps only allow this to work for vertexes where the SELECTED VERTEX snaps to the guideline in question). There's some food for thought here. Suffice to say, I really do wish there was a "Snap to Guideline" feature.

And, maybe, in ADDITION to the above, a second option called "Snap to ..." (generic). For this option, you would draw something (say, an apron), choose the "Snap to ..." option, and then click on something; whereupon your apron would snap to the object you clicked on (provided you click on the straight edge of that object which could be a runway, a building outline, etc).

All good points - I run into the same problem with Copy/Paste Short cuts.

As for snapping I think we have that in the list but I will check

As always... Apologies if this has already been suggested...

A 'replace object' routine...

Example...; I have 56 or so placements of an object (default or user MDL/GUID) named "Green_Barrel.mdl" (GUID-blah blah blah)... its placed in various places in the project.... It would be swell if there was a routine that could replace all of those placed green barrels with another object, for example, blue_barrel.mdl.. without having to delete the green ones and place 56 blue ones in their place manually...

so, the replace routine would substitute another object in the same locations as the original objects....

This would expedite replacement or changing of objects such as taxiway edge lights, ramp lights, trees, bush objects/mdl's etc, that need to be changed or replaced with another object

Thanks for reading... Jon, your ADE rocks...

That has been asked for in the past. I will make sure it is on the list (or hiked up the list a bit :))

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but i notice ADE uses about 50% of my computers CPU... when FS is running that likes to use 50% as well, so i usually have to minimize FS to give ADE enough CPU to operate. When i minimize ADE it still uses 50%. I don't know if there is an easy way to reduce its CPU usage. FSX planner uses almost no CPU, but frankly ADE seems a TON better to me, so i'm not about to switch. Other than that, seems good!

Thanks for looking, Jon! I appreciate all your efforts, ADE is awesome!!! Thanks for all you do..!

Huh? Even whilst running, ADE uses hardly any CPU

I assume you are running the latest version of ADE? ADE 1.50.01 had a cpu issue but that was fixed within days of release. Current version is ADE 1.50.4402 and I see no CPU issues here either. If you are running the older version then please update it - if not then I am not sure why you are seeing that processor use - is the airport you are working on a very large one?

I've never had any problem with cpu usage running ADE. However, after recently losing my cool with McAfee I changed to Norton. Norton is not without it's problems either and one of them is these little pop-ups. I frequently see one saying that ADE is using 50% of resources. It's still not a problem but just to let you know it does sometimes happen - usually when I'm moving an image.

Don't know whether it's been mentioned before , but how about the possibility of drawing a round poly by selecting the option and just drag the mouse for size .

I need tocheck but you can certainly use drag handles to change the size of a Helper shape with the mouse if you have a ProKey.
