• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

is that a good idea? I would find it VERY helpful...

I would take 'not yet' to mean that it is on the development program but has not been implemented so far and will not be in the next release.

Approach Tool Suggestion

Hello Jon and All ----

As a newbie to ADE build my first approaches, the tool in version 1.39 is really great!

I did find, unless I have overlooked a built-in feature, that it would be handy, when bringing up a specific approach for editing or additions, that the waypoints/fixes involved in that particular approach be linked together with lines as they typically are on instrument approach/SID charts.

Things around busy areas get real busy (many waypoints/fixes) and scattered, and it would be real nice to see the approach-of-interest highlighted and connected. Also of great interest is something showing the DISTANCE between the fixes as typically appears on the approach charts.

Maybe I have missed something in 1.39, but I tried to find distance information and could not. Short of doing the lat-long calculations :-) ----

Many Thanks ---- Bob :D

1.40 dynamically draws approaches in a similar way to the FSX GPS.

Guidelines provide distance and heading information. 1.40 contains guidelines in Approach Mode that are measured in nautical miles and have the option of magentic heading.

1.40 is the next full release but we may make a beta available to this community with this functionality in before we go to public release

Jon, thanks! Great minds think alike :) --- you guys are way ahead of ole me! Looking forward to the next release, beta or not!!!

Cheers -- Bob :D

Doh! I should have read the post(s) above a little better. Looks like guidelines aligned to the runway centerlines in approach mode are already on the way!!

The current development version has them ;)

Jon: This may already have been mentioned in this thread or elsewhere, so please disregard if in the works.

It would be nice to be able to size generic buildings to a tenth. Currently, if you add a generic building and resize, to say 10.5 x 11.2, when you go back to the building it shows only the whole number and not the decimal.

Thanks and I look forward to the release of 1.40.

I'm not sure if that is actually possible. I might be completely wrong but I have a note somewhere that they can be set only to units. This is something to do with FSX. If I have this wrong I am sure someone will tell me :)

If it is possible, a way to make a universal change to the taxiway lighting and markings for an entire airport.

Hi all,

Just startet to use ADE yesterday after a long time with FSX-Planner and I really like all things things that are possiable in ADE compared to FSX-planner (I know a new version is under development). But as there seems to be a little more activite regarding updating ADE compared to FSX-planner, I'll add a couple of suggestions here. And maybe I'll convert to ADE fully ;)

After reading the hold topis of suggestions, I hope I am not repeating anyone.

  1. Make it more easy to manage parking spots and there Airlines connected to them. Some kind of a export list or any other way possiable for someone to make sure that you hav'nt forgotten any Airline company at any gate, without going though all the parking spots one by one.
  2. Remove the autocelection/highlight when moveing the mouse over any object, apron, gate ect. To me it is confussing when working with two objects close to each other, that the nearby object is flickering every time the mouse moves over the object that I not editing.
  3. Maybe it is just me... but compared to FSX-planner, I find it way difficult to change a path or taxiway from lets say, Cement to Asfahlt. To be unnest... I open FSX-planner eveytime just to do that, as I hav'nt fund the way i ADE :o

Keep up the good work

I'm not sure I understand. You can list all parking spots from the List Menu and that will tell you what airlines are assigned to which parking spot. This report can be exported to a comma delimited file or printed (as can all lists). Or is the suggestion that we have a list by airline code that shows which parking spots are assigned to that airline? If so then I can add that to the list. :)

Again I need to understand what you mean. There is generally only one object selected at a time (although you can select multiple taxi links or parking spots) this is highlighted in the color set for the selected object which you can change in the Color Settings Dialog. Links light up when you hover over a taxi node. This is an aid to seeing that a node is linked in correctly to the taxi paths around it. Finally you have the tool tip which is displayed when you are over an object. Is the tool tip the thing you would like to turn off?

Click the taxi path and hit enter (or double click or right click and select edit) From the property dialog change the surface type. If you hold down the shift key while selecting taxi paths then you can select a number and change the surface of them all at one time. Is that what you need?

If I get him right he is asking for a list view of all parking spots with the ability to add/edit the parking codes in that list. Sounds like a good idea.

Hi scruffyduck,

First of all thanks for you anwsers and comments to my suggestions.

Regarding 1.: I now see, that it is allready showen in the list you are getting, when selecting "List Parking" in the List menu :o There I can see what Airline companys that are asigned to what Parking spot :)

Regarding 2.: Yes, Links light up when you hover over a taxi node and I understand the aid in this, maybe I just need to get used to it... comming from FSX-planner :scratchch

Regarding 3.: What ever I do... double click, right click and select edit or even hit enter when a path is selected, I don't get any options to edit the surface. I get a properties window where I can edit "Designator, Type, Width and lights for left and right edges" nothing more ?

Fyi. I am using ADE version 1.37.5

OK I think I understand. FSX generally requires that the surface of a taxiway matches the surface of the underlying apron, runway etc. ADE can set the surface automatically so that the taxiway will always match the underlying surface type. This saves the user from having to set them. If however you do want to set them yourself then go to Settings > Options and uncheck the box that says 'Auto set Apron and Parking Link Surfaces' Then you should be able to change the surfaces as you wish. ADE has a lot more automation built in than FSX Planner. For some users this makes things easier. Most of the automation can be turned off if you do not like it.
