• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Tromsø ENTC

Fourth photoscenery for my 36 AoN airports. Last time I will use weeks to fight it into spot (have to render it outside SBuilder). But anyway, my best ever.

Little something I am working on besides the El Paso International Airport project. Haven't previewed anything on that yet, but planning a trip down to El Paso to visit the airport for the project. Anyway, doing a conversion of Nick Wilkinsons Embraer 135 to make it fully FSX Native. Textures are very early on right now, still have a lot of details to add still.

Time ago I made most of the buildings of LIME for FlightGear, with Blender ... now trying to transfer them to FSX (to which I switched in october 2012).

Download is available (preliminary, as is now) at:

Updating will be done from time to time

Looking good! One of my favourite airports that didn't have a quality scenery yet, but thanks to you that's going to change.

Fictional elevation sets

Hi all.

I'm doing some programming to create worldwide fictional elevation data. I'm working in C#, so speed may end up a problem. I'm using a library from http://libnoisedotnet.codeplex.com/

An elevation set that is 3 arc-second ( SRTM-3) would take as long as 3 months to generate!!! I'm experimenting with a much rougher resolution to cut down the time, but I may oversample it back to an LOD9 mesh... after all, it is fantasy.

The reason for this would be to create alternate worlds. First with elevations, then add landclass, water-masking, shorelines, etc... Finally airports.

Dick, that sounds really interesting! Just think, maybe one day we'll have Arrakis, or alternatively Tatooine! :rotfl:

Oh wait, those are both darn near desert planets. That probably wouldn't be interesting enough, and too dusty to boot...

Hi Bill.

Occasionally we get questions about how to make an island. Now we can get questions on how to make a planet. :D

My first test makes a BIL file of 11gb in size, at about .00333333 degrees per pixel. This could reasonably make a mesh at LOD 7. It took 9 hours to generate. It does wrap seamlessly at the antimeridian ( where 180E and 180 W meet ). It's a bit overboard with the mountains, and the oceans have many more islands than I expected.

FROGX - LFPT Project start

Hello all,

After our quite sucessfull LFOZ scenery, we have now decided to start a little more ambitious french airport : LFPT - Pontoise-Cormeille-en-Vexin
It's a two runways airport in the suburbs of Paris.
Like we have done for LFOZ, all our progress will be published on our website :

That sounds so cool Dick, any chance of making the moon? How much control do you have over the size of the planet?

Size could be controlled by elevation range, but, basically you still have earth... just different terrain. There is little control over the actual features, so recreating the moon would be out. I thought there was a dem set already of the moon.?

Almost done with my lil project for FSX/A after a little more then 4 years. Learned a lot as this was my first ever flightsim project.

RAF Leeming EGXE

Working on RAF Leeming, I was based there for three years, it is going to be a true rendition including the new SLAM barrack blocks next to the airmans mess, aligned with photo gen X, modelled in 3DS Max, including runways and taxiway and will have volumetric grass.
