• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA ZBAA Beijing International Airport for FSX

To merge the edges of the bridges/tunnel edges into the FSX terrain for users with a lower mesh, I put a 10-15m extension onto the side of the model with that area of photo scenery on it, which dipped about 2m below the terrain at the end, so you wouldn't see the gap between the FSX terrain and the bridge model. And because it went under the terrain, there was no flickering.

Good point, thanks.
I will try that.
But if the users set up their terrain to max, those extension will cause flickering or not?

Just the lines and labels on the taxiway are quite a tough job.

No you have it going down at an angle going into the terrain, so it never is at the same z altitude, but there will be a small bump based on where the meeting point is based on their mesh resolution.

Great work. I landed at Beijing recently and thought about your project - it is a huge task for one man. I did take pictures, but they are useless due to the combination of smog and fog - with the frequency of extreme smog in Beijing you can probably save a bit on the detail level....

Fantastic! Day one purchase! Keep it up Tic! I hope you don't mean last project ever, I love your work because so few developers do quality Asian airports these days. Plenty of potential smaller projects in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia etc. I've always wanted a quality VLVT Wattay International airport, Onnet Valleys version wasn't exactly very good. It's a lot smaller than Beijing, what do you say Tic?;) Thai Creations were supposedly doing Krabi but now seems to have disappeared from the FS scene.

Cheers!/Andreas

Well then I paid to huge compliment to that other person. Sorry about that, Tic.

Also, I should apologize for hijacking the thread from it's previous hijackers -- but I do agree, that we all love your work, and we would love to enjoy more of it. I can only second the comments from our Swedish friend Addman.

But certainly you will deserve a long break, after completing this monster!

Tic, what an ambitious work, mate. I marvel at your perseverance doing such a big project, kudo! That's really payware quality.

Considering of what I have done in the past, VTBS, WMKK, ZBAA, I think I obsess with the big airports. Unfortunately, each project require at least two years.
