• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Forum update

In the old forum it was possible to specify the order of display of the postings within a thread (start with newest vs start with oldest).
I cannot find this option here.

I just did some searching, it doesn't seem to be a standard option anymore. We would have to install a plugin for it. If many users used this sorting order we can do it, but on the other hand we are trying to install not too many plugins either, since that might give issues when patches for the forum software are released.

Hi Arno,
I still cannot upload photo to Wiki. There is a message: Could not create directory ‘mwstore://local-backend/local-public/6/60’.
Or I supposed not to upload any photos.

Tic,

I still forgot to check that. Let me do that later today.

still cant find attachments management.

Seems that also requires an addon. But since there is no limit anymore for attachments, why do you need to manage them?

Thanks Arno.
But the "Watched Thread" is not my point.
My point is: when I open a thread, what is shown on top of the list, the first or the last posting?

This order I want to change.
Sorry for my English

Helli

First post is at the top Helli and when you open a thread you are automatically taken to the first unread. There are also buttons to take you to the first unread at the top and bottom of the thread. So generally when you open a thread one of two things happens:
  • If there are post that you have not read then the display goes to the first unread
  • If there are no new posts then it stays at the top
In both cases the sort order is oldest first. If you want to post then quick post is always available below the posts. If you want to reply with a quote then find the post you want to quote and use the Reply link.

Unless Arno can find it then I am not aware of a way to change the order but then I would never want to since bottom posting works best for me and I would not think to do it another way

Is there a way to remove the "New posts" entry when one has viewed it and "returned" ?

Vive la difference,Jon ;)

By the way, in the "list" of threads you see the newest active thread on top. Doesn't this disturb you?

Jon and Arno

Don`t bother to reply to my last posting (above? below? :)). It's not worth your time.
I just wondered, whether I am too old or too stupid to find this option in the new setup.
I can live comfortably with the status quo

Hi,

I know what you meant, you want the latest post in top, not the first (oldest). But that function is not part of the software by default.

Hi Tic,

The wiki upload problem has been fixed now. After moving to the new server we forgot to set the right permissions for the images folder.

Nope - why should I be logical Helli? ;)

Oh, :)didnt know the limit was released. What about just viewing them? Requires a plugin?
Be nice to quickref back to some I have posted over the years since some are still relevant.

Thanks Arno, it works just fine now.

Have we lost the ability to turn off smileys in the text when we want?

For example, I want to write a gauge variable PLANE LATITUDE in the text rather than in a code box. It's supposed to look like:

Code:
(A:PLANE LATITUDE, degrees)

but in regular text looks like:

-- (A:pLANE LATITUDE, degrees)

Before, we had the ability to disable the smileys.

Thx

Bob

Hi Bob,

I have checked and it seems there isn't a simple tick box like before to disable the smileys. One way is to place your text in a code block. But it seems you can also put it between and .

Of course that didn't work. So I said you can put it between

Code:
[plain] and [/plain]

Just testing

:) :D
