• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Global AI Ship Traffic FSX, P3D and MSFS2020

Finished updating the last model to MSFS... Tomorrow starts beta test of the complete set with I guess now 1350 ships, whereafter Asobo changes the rules of the game again............. Don't expect PBR and native MSFS2020 models - we are still with basic mdl models but all transparency issues, white models, etc. should be resolved now.

If somebody wants to help with the Beta please send me a PM. It will be available from Tuesday this week... I'm doing my own first tests now and then wait to after the upcoming update of MSFS just not to start with a lot of issues if something relevant for ships is changed.

56 different ships spotted on a flight from Calais - the diversity has been one of the main problems with the "quick&dirty conversion" just using the standard version of Global AI Ship Traffic. With that conversion just one repaint per mdl file showed up. Changing the folder structure of the models so the entries in sim.cfg follows the model and not the texture solved the issue. This of course means adding more models.

The update includes a lot of completely new models e.g. DFDS's ferries on Dover-Calais and Dover-Dunkirk.

The wakes are gone for the moment - let's see what happens after the next update.

Awesome work. As a south coast UK dweller I am excited to see this bring life back to an empty English Channel.

Looking great and to be honest I probably never would have noticed the texture errors on the hull from a few hundred feet above 😉

While the beta is now going out and the first impressions being received I think it is time to pay tribute to some of those who have contributed to this project... The list is long: Knud Kristoffersen, Jean-Pierre Fillion, Erwin Welker, Milton Shupe, Manfred Siedler, Bernardo Barroso, Paul Donnelly, Finn Kristoffer, Didier Puentes, Andrew Thomsen, Antonio Diaz, Sebastien Viale, Rick Keller, Alberto Garcia, Cxema, Gary Payne, Lazarus Starkweather, Pascal Dumat, Dave Garwood, and Robystar... And the all the beta testers and others giving advice and help.

...edit... I better also include Arno, because without MCX this update would not have happend...........

The ships have gone to the bottom of the Great Lakes...

I was searching in wane for the ships on the Great Lakes and the rivers.... I got a hint north of New Orleans on the Mississippi when I found a couple of tugs with water reaching the bridge area and I couldn't find any ships further north. Apparently MSFS for the moment put the ships at sea level no matter the real water surface altitude. To verify, I designed a 240 meters tall ship and put it on a route close to Chicago which is at 182 metres above sea level... The result below... Theory confirmed, so until ASOBO corrects this we will unfortunately not have ships on the Great Lakes or rivers far from the sea.
