• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Introduction to MSFS SDK (scenery)

So my exclusion and water poly's seem to have sort of worked. But some areas seem to still be thereView attachment 60967

You can still see taxiway markings (and the AI from EGBF) Is there any way to hide EGBF (The airfield underneath?)
Yes there is. If you've created a new airport, you can select it to overwrite the old airport. Select the airport, in the properties of the airport under the "To Delete" tab (bottom one), just select all the boxes. That will overwrite it. I just added it to the docs, thanks for reminding me :)

That works a treat. Don't know how I missed it..... Now, I'm wondering, If I build a poly at the EGVW in the sim and delete the airport there, I might be able to use the correct ICAO code....

Awesome to have people already making user friendly guides and sharing their knowledge! Keep it up! :D

Just one question though. Isn't the OutputDir (Output directory), just the directory in the Package itself? So creating the ./scenery/world/scenery directory in your root project directory is not necessary

I've tried selecting the airport object in the scenery and selecting all of the delete's (circled in red) but the original airport, EGBF) is still there (circled in green). So I need to give my airport the same ICAO code as the one I'm wanting to hide, in this case, I give my airport the ICAO EGBF and the default one disappears. However I also seem to have AI cars that won't go away.... and does anyone know what "TIN" Airports are? Sorry for all the questions.

I don't think that part of this tutorial has been done yet, it shows up as TODO on my document. I have tried with an object I had created, but it didn't work, so I took it out again and will tail for the next update.

Addin an object is WIP. I will, whenever I get time write on the 3ds Max section. In the meantime you guys will have to stick with blender that Mr. Wompy (seb) is writing

Hi guys, first of all, thank you for the effort in putting this up. I have 1 question, what is the proper way in flattening the airport area? I tried the checkbox "Apply Flatten" via the Airport Object properties but seems to have no effect? Thanks in advance!:D

Yep, getting Blender objects in MSFS is a work in progress for the docs. Should be soon, I'm just getting a good idea on what steps I can cut out to make it quicker

It should work when you place objects, such as a runway, it will flatten that area. You could try outlining the airport with a polygon and setting it to airport area, but I haven't experimented with that yet.

Hi thanks for reply! yes I have added already a polygon and mark it as airport area but still also no effect. I am not sure about terraforming but as far as I know its best use is only for small areas.

Hmm. Not really sure. Which area is this? I can play around with it and see if I can find anything

I use rectange tool to terraform areas. Plz check the terraforming section

Hi, I just started the use of the MSFS SDK with the help of 'Introduction to MSFS SDK'. Following step by step the introduction, I run into some troubles:
  • As soon as I enter the target coordinates into the search field for my new simple airport, the view shows a diffuse map where no details can be recognized.
  • When activating the developer camera, the view changes to an animated scene in a hangar, where a Z-fighting on ground can be seen.
  • Later on, in the inspector window, with all the required directories correctly set, I depress ‘Load in Editor’ and the Scenery editor window opens. It tells me:
‘NetBingObj was not found, please load any mission to keep on using the scenery editor.’
A search regarding ‘NetBingObj’ on my PC and in the Internet gave no results. So I stuck. Can someone help me to get out of this trap?

Thanks

Mike

Did you go to the location that you set? I had this because I turned on the Dev camera before the plane was at the location I wanted to work in. After I went to it I got the dev camera to work fine
