• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi!

Asobo has released a new video tutorial explaining step by step how to use the Wwise program to bring your sounds to MSFS:

I'm short on time at the moment, but the video seems very interesting :)

Not one but 3 videos.
You should find XXXX_Part1, XXXX_Part2 and XXXX_Part 3

HI Christian, i have been following the video tutorial from Asobo but that video is for aircraft sounds. I am interesting adding sound to an object like a jetway. Have you been able to achieve that?

No, unfortunately not. At the time it was too complex for me to get into the subject, but I'm still interested. I guess it just takes time to delve deeper into the subject.

I followed their tutorial but not sure if i should create a new work unit inside their Airplane_Player folder or create a separate folder for jetways. I did a test trying both outside and inside their folder an got nothing. I am not good with the xml files, maybe you can give me an idea how to create the xml file. i tried this two version and didn't work. I am sure i am missing something.
version 1:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<SoundInfo Version="0.1">
<WwisePackages>
<MainPackage Name="kdtw_jetway_default">
</WwisePackages>
<AnimationSound>
<Sound WwiseData="true" WwiseEvent="JETWAY_MOVING"/>
</AnimationSound>
</SoundInfo>

Version 2:

<SoundInfo Version="0.1">
<WwisePackages>
<MainPackage Name="kdtw_jetway_default">
</WwisePackages>
<AnimationTriggers Animation="Wheel_Rotation">
<!-- MySound1 will play each time the animation timeline reaches 25% and 75% -->
<EventTrigger Count="2" Direction="Both">
<SoundEvent WwiseEvent="bell_sound" Action="Play"/>
</EventTrigger>
</AnimationTriggers>
</SoundInfo>

Thanks

Here it is:
In addition to the video tutorial, please see the PDF tutorial. To be able to hear the jetway sound inside the cockpit follow the written tutorial. It’s a very easy process if you already created the sound. No need for another video tutorial

I would like to say thank you very much. I still haven't got around to working on the topic. With your instructions it might be easier :)

Hello @OltcitRoom .

I read your PDF and tried to use it. When I open the SDK FlightSim.wproj sample project in WWise, it looks a little different than yours:

What do I have to do to make it look like yours?
I don't want to create a jetway sound, I just want a zombie sound to be added to the sim object.

I recomand following the video tutorial first. The pdf file is an add on to the video tutorial. After releasing the video I realized the sound of the jetways can be hear only outside the aircraft. The pdf file is showing how to set the sound to be heard inside the cockpit as well.
The same process in the video tutorial can be apply to any object.

I might have to update the video tutorial by deleting the existing one and add a new version. There are a few more steps to set the distance of the sound from an object in wwise and it’s better to include them in the tutorial. I need to test tomorrow a couple of things to make sure it works correctly. I will update when done. Sorry guys, wwise is very new to me and it’s very complex.

Hi all,
I try to attach a sound to an hangar in MSFS (screwdriver)
The soud work properly in MSFS, thanks to you and your video.
What is not clear for the moment is the xml :

This one works fine but play always and anywhere :) (if I add viewpoint "inside" it play only in the cockpit.

<AlwaysPlaySounds>
<Sound WwiseData="true" WwiseEvent="visseusehangar" NodeName="" FadeOutType="2" FadeOutTime="1" ViewPoint="Inside">
</Sound>
</AlwaysPlaySounds>

What I would : Is only sound in the hangar proximity, so I try this : A volume parameter : but the sound is not play.

<SimVarSounds>
<Sound WwiseData="true" WwiseEvent="visseusehangar" NodeName="" SimVar="Volume" Units="cube meter" Index="0"/>
<Range UpperBound="50"/>
</Sound>
</SimVarSounds>

Maybe the only way to do that is a Worldscript ? when entering an Area the sound play.

I'm not expert in .xml so I search :)

I deleted the video tutorial and currently working on another version. On the new version I will go deep into setting up the distance to the sound. I am trying to get the new version done today. I am not familiar with xml either but it can be done in wwise.

Hi everyone, the newer version tutorial adding sounds to an object/jetways is available. If you already watched the previous one go to the timeline and select Wwise to skip the introduction. I do recommend watching the whole Wwise section.

Brilliant !
I have to test this next week !
Does we have to ask for a licence each time we would create a new wwsound ?

I am not sure about that. I think the license expires if you don’t apply it to the project. I still have mine active.
You can open the existing project, create a new work unit and under sounback don’t include the previous soundbank.

Update: The license will expire, I have 51 day left. When building all sound banks Wwise will notify with a message how many days you have left.

Great, and thank you very much!
I'll take the time this weekend to work through your instructions. I'll get back to you then.
Thank you again for your time and effort on the video :)

Hello Return from test :cool: you a Master class !!!
Works very fine !
As I want to have just Sound in a Hangar :
I attribute 40 meters and "always play Sound" in xml because there's no trigger in this case.
As I go away, there's no more Sound👍

Thanks.
