• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Ability to select and edit an apron and poly in the inside and not having to select the boarder!

Gets really annoying when your trying to select a concrete apron when its right next to another apron (like connected) but it selects the asphalt apron.

Place the mouse pointer inside the apron and hit Ctrl+A

To be able to use combined lat and lon cause the site where i get the images from have it there and it gets a little annoying having to putting in four numbers for each image instead of one.

I am not sure what this means - can you give me an example please.

Didn't know you could do this. Thanks Jon! :D

Well it is nice to be ahead of the game for once ;)

Also, the ability to add runway start to all runways at once and not having to add them one by one.

Added to the list :)

not sure if this has been posted before, and too lazy to read, but add a way to check lights like in FSX planner. thats the only thing i miss about it.:D

Sorry I have not looked at FSX Planner for a long time. Do you mean a night view? Is so then that should be in the next main release.

Yes, night view. The one where it all goes dark and you can see the lights there. Also, is it possible to set starts around the airport with custom names? IE: "CG-65 helipad" and set it at a different altitude than the airport?

I do not believe that is possible.

Shoreline vector orientation.

When placing shoreline vectors, could you have it show which side is the side that faces the water. For example, on the Ocean Shoreline vector, in the direction of travel (of the vector), the right side is where the waves appear.

Or one idea would be to put a small arrow (like there is on the taxiway) to show the direction of the vector. This way you can tell at a glance which way a vector is heading.

Could you create a way to snap vertex points to each other in order to create a seamless apron connection between two different aprons?

I will look

Something similar is already on the list :)

what do the arrows on taxiway paths do? it looks like they are supposed to go one way. can you switch it to both ways?

The arrow is intended to show the 'direction' of the link from the start node to end node. This can be useful if you need to set the line type differently for the left and right edges. It has no effect on traffic direction. All links are effectively two ways.

I will put in my two cents... I love ADE, by the way... Great program...

(If these are duplicate requests, please ignore them accordingly... :) )

1 - Seasonal output routine options.. I will explain... I am placing a number of vegetation guid's, quite a few to populate the airport... most have all seasons in the library list... Would it be conceivable to make a routine or wizzard, where you place your trees from the library in summer guid's, and you have the ability to compile the scenery in all seasonal variations. Meaning: it outputs the scenery with your summer trees, then can 'change' the guid for the trees you placed, to have the corresponding seasonal guid, and make 4 or 5 output bgls, with the respective tree's season guids in each one... If FSX is not going to change seasons for you, because it has a guid for each season... one would have to create and place 15 to 20 different tree types and sizes for the scenery, and thus do this 4 or 5 times from scratch, placing all trees every time because there are guid's for all trees all seasons...

So, would it be a pain for you to incorporate a way to do trees/vegitation, where you place the summer guids, and ADE can output whatever season bgl you select, by changing the guid for the Maple 10m to the one for the Maple 10m sp, and Maple 10m fa, etc....???

Currently, I made one set of trees and vegetation for the airport, looks great, but I cringe at the fact that I have to do the vegetation all over again for each season...

I hope this makes sense...

2 - (this has already been suggested, but I second the suggestion) that an ability to create a line of models as a said distance would be swell, a great way to place lights, lamps, etc with precision......

3 - when freezing or locking objects or sets of items, that they are no longer able to be effected... i.e.; currently, I lock the aprons... and models i have on the aprons dont get selected, as trying to select them keeps highlighting the edges of the apron... the apron doesnt move, but it makes selecting the models difficult, because it keeps trying to select the apron....

4 - Ctrl+V works as a 'paste at mouse pointer location', instead of right mouse clicking and having to left mouse select paste... This will make placing similar models and objects go sooo much faster... I think this is what the previous person who mentioned a 'clone' option might have been thinking of... copy/paste works, sure, but perhaps could be streamlined a little...

5 - Position makers not be so 'thick'... I know this is for visibility, but when zoomed in for some detailed positioning, it was difficult to get alot of accuracy when lining some things up with current scenery edges, etc...

Some great ideas already posted by others...... ADE is a great program... I am really enjoying using it for most of the layout work with my sceneries... Thanks for consideration of these items, and definitely Thanks for making ADE....

Thanks Ed I need to read you post carefully - there is a lot of good stuff there :)

It would be useful to have a copyable (is that a word?) listing of the libraries used in a project.

Currently one needs to examine each object's properties, copy the GUID to the clipboard, open OLM and find the (pasted) GUID to see in which file it is defined.

Many will be in the same library so a list of libraries which include all objects in the project would be extremely useful.

George

There is a plugin in ADE already called Libraries Used.......
