• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

suggestions?

I haven't had a chance to play with ADE recently but I'm curious to know if the "randomize parking spots" or "rubber banding" features have managed their way into any of the recent updates? Or, if perhaps they're nearing the front of the features list.?

Thanks again guys for all your efforts. I'm really glad to know ADE is there for when I find the time to dive back in. :D

Hi Jon,
Not far indeed, and perhaps after doing the one or two airfields I'm planning to do at the moment, I might try to create Boscombe Down (where I work).

Well I certainly know where that is :)

They are certainly on the development list. I don't think they are in the next planned release however.

Snap To Aircraft Center

Hi Jon,

I was thinking how usefull it would be to have a "Snap To Aircraft Center" on the menu for nodes, etc. This would aid the alignment of the nodes and quicker than copying in coordinates.

Best Regards
David

Hmmm interesting - let me take a look at that :)

My, wish is for a "view all" button in the view menu. Just a little time saver.

Explain a bit further please - do you mean something to turn on all the view options at once?

GPS Emmulator

Hi,

Excellent program, (it is costing me flying hours in FS though) :).

My wish is for a GPS type view when the ability to build approaches has been incorporated into ADE. ie: changes made to approaches, missed approach legs etc could be viewed as a line plotted in ADE to show changes made without having to compile, load FS, set GPS etc. (not necessarily in real time as with taxiways), but the ability to plot the course after changes have been made without having to go back to FS in order to check 1 change.

As a new approach builder, I am still trying to get to grips with some aspects of the process. I have sucessfully added ILS and VORDME approaches to my airport, but get amazing designs and distances in my gps when I try creating the MAP legs :o. I am sure such a feature would help myself and others tremendously.

Hi Arthur
We are currently working on the design specification for approaches in ADE and will certainly look at this :)

Sorry if we are costing you flying hours ;) Design can become addictive and there are many developers who frequent this site who have no time to fly at all

Hi Arthur

This could be very very nice.

Having a GUI for approach-making would very much speed the design process. It would also open up the world of approach-making to users who do not work with xml.

I am wondering how much error-checking ADE would have with respect to approaches. As you probably know, just because you code the approach a certain way, does not guarantee it will work in the sim.

If you put approach coding in the GUI, that would certainly be wonderful though, no question about it.

If I recall, Jon said that there is a big new release coming up. I take it that a new manual might also be coming so you guys will not have to answer the same questions all the time. I know alot of people don't read manuals(guys don't like to ask direction.) I like manuals, and there is alot of stuff not in the manual yet.

We are working on new documentation along with the software development process. It is more flexible and more easily updated so will hopefully work better for users. It is the nature of these things that similar questions arise. There seems to be a set of questions that come to mind on each stage of learning about scenery design :)

More runway surfaces?

Is it possible to have more than one runway surface type for "grass" and "unknown" (e.g. grass1 and grass2 and unknown1 and unknown2)?

Not if we conform to the BglComp specification which we do. Adding types that are not included in the schema and compiler will result in compiler errors. Something like AFCAD for FS9 or AFX have their own compilers so are mot subject to these constraints. ADE complies with the SDK in this respect

Preserve Location?

When you disconnect (or unlock) the connection with FSX, you are moved to the airport center. Would it be possible for the program to preserve where you are on the airport?

Likewise, when you make a background image visible or hide it, the display jumps away from your current working location.

Gary - been on the list for a while but I have not gotten to do it yet :o

I thought of something else -- and forgive me if this is already in, but I haven't seen it --

How about a shortcut keystroke to instantly hide all elements EXCEPT the background image. Then, same keystroke to instantly bring it all back.

This would be useful when aligning and comparing. It would nicely complement the transparency features, I would think.

Added to the list Rhett :)

something that randomly puts down a few aprons and a runway or two to get you started:)
