• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

ya i know i mostly said this suggestion because i get confused on how far i should zoom and how big i should make an apron :o:D

Using guidelines will tell you how big something is or help you to size something.

"Favorites" List?

Hi: Would it be possible for the program to include something like a "Favorite Objects" list in which we could place objects that we use a lot for quick retrieval? Thanks for a great program!

We can certainly look at that. I have added it to the list :)

Another suggestion: making the helper shapes editable, so that you can change the width and length after you created a helper shape (and not have to make a whole new helper shape again).

Well you don't have to - you can change the size of a helper shape now.

I have a request for something new to be added to ADE.

Could you (if possible) make it so that when you change the taxiway sign size in ADE, you can actually see how big it is going to be. As far as i know in ADE no matter what size the taxi sign is there is just one size shown in ADE, it would be good if it would change to the actual size its going to be so i dont need to look at it in FSX to see if its big enough or not.

I thought that there was already some code to do that but maybe it did not make it out of the development version. I will check and add it to the list.

The details are in the release notes. Select the shape and use Ctrl plus one of the arrow keys to resize it. If you have the tooltip visible when you start the re-size then the current size of the shape will be updated as you go

OK thanks for that.
I can't read the release notes since my ADE computer is not connected to the internet.

If you downloaded the update then you have the release notes. Helper Shapes were introduced in Version 1.35 - Only Changes in 1.37 are not in the release notes. From your Start Button got to All Programs > Airport Design Editor > Help and you should see the link to the release notes. Alternatively they are in the Manuals Folder inside the ADE Application folder.

maybe...

i don't know if it would be possible to put "airline-designated" static vehicles, but that sure would be awesome.

and airline jetways too! :)

Other than using scenery objects that have their textures set up for a specific airport I am not sure that can be done. Certainly as far as I know there is no way to do that for FSX generated airport traffic or animated jetways

actually if they were just static library objects...like jetways with the airline codes, or baggage carts, etc...

and didnt fsdreamteam.com make moving jetways that had airline's on them with the chicago scenery?

Those were custom objects. Sure that can be done, but it is not a task for the ADE program. It requires a 3D modelling program like gmax or 3DSMax to do that...then export and compile using FSX SDK tools. It also takes many many hours of work, far more than most people think--especially with animated jetways.

oh ok, i thought everyone at ADE already MADE models that were in the game... i didn't know that they were all just from FSX already... either way it's cool, i completely understand, i was just putting that out there.

"Group Objects" Possible?

Those of us who know nothing about programming probably make silly suggestions, but here goes anyway: Would it be possible to have a function in the program that would allow us to create "groups" of objects? For example, if one were enhancing a large number of airports, maybe a group of objects (baggage, vehicles, etc) or a "hangar group" that could be placed with one click as an object? Vegetation comes to mind also...Parked groups of vehicles, campgrounds etc...Thanks for considering my idea...

Steve - that is a very interesting idea and I will add it to the development list.
