• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Forum update

First priority for me now is to get the performance better.

Then we will take a look at the style used. Or maybe some small adjustments to the current one will help already.

I'll check about the subforums, I would also like them to be listed on the main page indeed, like we had before.

This may have to do with the style used,.. but can I suggest making the icon for new messages within a thread Larger or more identifiable,... also hi-light new thread(s) ?

Yes, glad you're back.

Nice modern look, just a bit hard to see in places.
I definitely need my reading glasses now, but I am sure the site tuning will eventually improve the readability.

Thanks for all of the hard work Arno.

Cheers
Gary

Hi,

New threads are shown bold in the list, is that not clear enough? Also there is a new image on the right side for new posts when you view the thread.

I have changed the background color a bit, to make things less bright. I have also experimented with using the same font as the old forum, but then the text seems to get even bigger. I don't think that is what we are looking for :)

The subcategories are now shown on the main page as well. There was indeed a setting for that.

I have been looking into the MySQL performance as well, it seems things are a bit better, but we will continue tuning the server.

Hello Arno,..

I can see it in Bold yes,.. but maybe step up on the Font as well? or different color maybe? Yes the New image on the right is pretty small (at least to me).

I'll see what we can tune. We are still exploring the options, but didn't want to keep the forum offline for too long :)

It's all looking fine and working well for me out in the sticks of Suffolk. I like the new forum layout and can see it well even with my old specs. (old eyes too)
Thanks to Arno and all for getting this amazing site/forum up again so quickly.
Really well done. Congratulations :D

Works fine now even with tapatalk. Thanks Arno for the quick move so that the forum is available again for all of us.
Performance looks good to me now too.

Looks good, however, keyword searches load almost no results, and I am unable to find my own threads / posts (no results found).

Where has the "Mark all read" function gone? I am seeing threads in dark blue font that
are old and I had previously marked as read.

I really need that function for 'housekeeping' :)

Paul

EDIT: I found it...in tiny font size, white on very light blue....quite
hard to read though!

Nice fresh look! Looking forward to seeing it evolve. Thanks for all the behind the scenes work

The performance is the highest priorty I agree. Before changing the design it would be helpful to get correct results of the search. I can wear my sunglasses if I only find the correct answers for my questions ;)
It nearly brings no result e.g. when searching for simple words like "lines"
So probably the index is not complete yet.

I just got a shock loading FSDeveloper a few mins ago! But, as always, layout change will take a while to get used to. Remember the time they changed the font of your newspaper...;)

Anyway, keep up the hard work, performance first and thanks for getting the forum back!:)

Well, nice system but how ever, what about SMF systems, they have it for free, and soon they will release v2.1 and you can have the old look back like you are running VB with a style that looks like VB. But it takes time to poke around this system to learn it.
My five cents.
