• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Suggestion: Incorporate the ability to select one taxi designator in the lists section (say taxi 'M') and have the ability to change the entire taxiway 'M' properties in one go instead of going segment by segment.

think we can add a button to 'snap' objects together at the edge?

It would be nice to be able to change the surface of a parking taxipath
In some cases I have concrete and others, asphalt. There is not choice when you call for edit.

See the attached image.

Right click on the taxiway or double click it to get the property option window.

If there is no way to edit, then your install may be corrupt and need reinstall.

The path I am referring to is the PARKING path. As seen on the attached image the box is grayed out.

Be aware of the reason for that check box. It should be that parking and apron links should not have a surface that differs from the underlying apron surface. However there is a bug in FSX that sometimes allows a different surface to show up. To avoid this causing problems ADE can automatically check the surface of the underlying apron and change the surface of the link to match. This should not be necessary but for the bug. If it is not checked then the user is responsible for checking that surfaces match in FSX.

Post to Jon,
Thanks for the reminder. I have read the Manual and this instruction is on page 25. I just didn't connect it with the surface problem. I am thankful there are experienced people that are willing to help the beginners.
I also wish to commend you for the cooperation you are giving users for their suggestions. The additions and improvements you are making are very much appreciated. For those who would like to show their appreciation please let us know how we can send a donation. Do you have a PayPal account?

Hi Zeb and thank you for the kind words. There is a way to donate on the website http://www.airportdesigneditor.co.uk

Hi, suggestions that might have been already done but I'm too lasy to scan all the 14 pages and check! :

* It would be useful to have a possibility in the Objects Library manager to update the thumbnails attached to each object. Too many objects have no preview of what they look like before installing them. There must be a way to do this automatically no? The existing screen capture in the manager presuppose that you have somewhere outside ADE the actual photo or texture unless I'm wrong.

*When you add a parking slot to an airline, perhaps it could be interesting to have an automatic check of the airline presence in the file "parkingSpecs.dat".
If the airline is not present then the user would be asked to enter the new name and its 3 digits code, ADE would check that the code is not already used and either ask to change the chosen one or enter the data in the file if everything is ok.

I am looking at the first. Generally folks place the object in FS and then take a screenshot.

I have added the second to the list to look at.

ADE already has a thumbnail capture capability (in the GBM and the LOM). (Generic Building Manager and Library Object Manager).

1. Place the object and adjust FS so it is displayed onscreen.
2. Select the object in the GBM or LOM.
2. Press the Capture New Thumbnail button. It will switch to a view of FS.
3. Draw a rectangle on the screen to outline your thumbnail.
4. Press the space bar to capture the image.
5. You can press Esc if you wish to cancel the process instead.

Hope this helps,

Import and automaticaly define waypoints or parking spots into ade from any table data to supply the earth coordinates.

Example: http://www.bostonvirtualatc.com/charts/EFHK/SID/EF_AD_2_EFHK_SIDR_WPTS_2012-04-05.pdf

Nowadays I do it by generating the according .xml statements, manually insert them asd a data block, compile the airport, then decompile the xxx.bgl back.
This might result in a certain amount of inexact data because of the .bgl decompile.

(Think this would be an ideal plugin, if I get any information for that, I will write it as a gnu plugin)

export third party library list as csv

I thought it may be useful to provide a csv export function to the Library List so that when you create a readme for your airport prior to upload, you could list the third party object libraries necessary to populate your airport. Right now you would have to hand log a list from the Library List to provide this.

Another possibility would be to include a column in Object List for the library used for the object. Then when exported to a spreadsheet it could be sorted by Library.

Thanks again Jon for your useful program. I have gained enough facility to recreate plausible versions of my two favorite local GA airports.

Highest Regards,
Obie

There is a function available in ADE Tools > Libraries Used. It does not provide a printout but it does list any third party libraries that a user would need.

Speaking of the Used Libraries list, I've never had to reference the individual library GUIDs, although I know one day I might find them useful. But still can there be a roll-up/roll-down all button so I can just collapse the list and quickly see the actual libraries in use?

Certainly worth including something along those lines.
