• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Suggestions for Future Version 2013

What version are you using? In 1.55 selection of aprons etc was charged to the edge. We went back to selection on the surface in 1.60. Although 1.60 is still beta it is stable. As for taxi links they should be selectable when they highlight as the mouse passes over. Again I think the selection of links may have been tweaked in 1.60.

can i request that you add a tower view like afcad does...i can do most of thes stuff ade can in afcad but afcad cant allow adding buildings and such so...

tower view would be awesome for new version

Not sure what you mean - as far as I know ADE does all the airport elements that AFCAD does. The tower view in ADE is shown as a pink circle with a T in it. You can only have one per airport so if there is already one present then you cannot add another.

where would i find this on the menu?

i didnt see it in any menu item unless my ade is out of date...

[EDIT] i just realized i was using version 1.4.something ill update

also allow the compiler to creat scenery into what you ccould use to upload to sites sso the folder is like

ie CYYZ ->Scenery
->Texture

like most all flight sim scenery files are...

It has always been there Right Click > Add > Tower. But that option won't be available if there is already a tower viewpoint at the airport.

!.4 is rather old ;) 1.55 is the current production version and 1.60 is the stable beta.

i just relaized that, ya so hoepfully after i do some screshot images for the scenry files im creating, ill update it.

You can compile into any folder you wish, including CYYZ/scenery.

That's right, nonetheless there are two files (more or less optional) that are not asking for a home folder (unless I missed something till now), these are BGLs defining a changed airport elevation, if so, which are always compiled into ./Scenery/World/Scenery and XMLs if this option is chosen that are going automatically in the folder in which you decided to have your compiled files. I personally would prefer an own folder for XMLs - again, probably I did not see the required option.

Altitude change BGL files MUST go into Scenery/World/scenery, or the AI aircraft do not park at the correct altitude.

Tom, that's clear and generally I appreciate very much the given possibilities to choose where to put the compiled files (probably I wasn't too clear expressing this part of my statement :whiteflag ). I'm just missing an option where to put the XML.

As I understand it - the suggestion is to allow the user to specify where the XML is saved. I have added that to my list :)

I don't think that the xml for the "alt" file should be saved. But, no doubt Jim will have a reason ;)

George, not for the ALT-file. Just the XML for the airport as it is today an option. I only mentioned the changed-altitude-file in the context that it does not give you a choice where to store it and, as Tom mentioned correctly, that's all right. However, I would like to store the optional XML in its own folder and not together with the other compiled BGLs automatically.

I always save everything to a "project" folder, ad3, xml and bgls. Then, copy the bgls to an FSX active scenery area.

Maybe the option should be whether to save the Xml with the project file or with the bgl file?

Would it be possible to somehow deactivate parking spots.

I like to place static airplanes on parking spots at a terminal but I don't like deleting the spot.

If it were possible to add a check box to the parking edit page to deactivate the spot that might be nice.

That way when I set up a flight I wont chose a spot where a static airplane is parked.

I could just remove the spot but f I them moved the airplane I would have to reinstall the spot.

I am not sure that there is any way to do that.

If I could wish, I would prefer an extra folder of my choice (mine is parallel to the project folder), otherwise I rather like the first alternative to store it together with the project.

Could the compiler just not compile a spot? But leave it in the original source file. You could change the color of a spot that marked as occupied.

I am not sure I understand that. Are you saying that you want to delete the spot in ADE but also keep the information about the spot and not compile it?
