• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Suggestions for Future Version 2013

That is new to me! Thanks for pointing out.
Just a question here: if the user has defined 6 strobes, how many will be rendered VMC and how many IMC?

6 strobes

I assume that ADE just sets the approach lights from the built-in "list" of FSX (as opposed to draw approach lights itself).

True

That's why I proposed to grey out strobes when ALSF1, ALSF2, Calvert, Calvert2, SALS is selected (as these seem that they do not combine with strobe lights - except if they do but only in IMC - I did not check this).

Some of the Approach lights in FS9/FSX are weather/visibility sensitive meaning they are modeled as part of the weather engine.

On the contrary SALSF should accept strobes (I think) but it doesn't. I do not know if this is an FSX bug or ADE's slip.

By real world design the SALSF will only show the strobes working in FSX when visibility is 3 miles or less (airport IMC).

Jim,
thank you again for clarifying.
It will be great to have a paragraph on all this in the updated manual, so we (I) stop bombarding you with the same questions all over.

A simple thing really.

How about a easy edit.
When saving a airport please add the file list..
Example . Say you are editing Kpdx I make 2 or more editions,
First is Oregon_Portland_International_ADEX_KPDX.ad3
then the default ade KPDX_ADEX.ad3

As each airport I edit I always add the state or country and city to the file name to find it easier.
Currently by just having the airport ICAO i would never know what airport that is..

It would be nice..

There is a file name component is settings to allow a comment. However that is not really too helpful since it would apply to all files. I will add it to the list to make file naming a bit more friendly

I know this was just added in the GP line editor, but I was thinking this might work better in ADE, and that's adding the option of choosing enhanced taxiway centerlines when drawing a taxi link. I think putting those in the taxilink editor drop-down menu for centerlines makes more sense and will be more user friendly. Would that be possible Scruffy?

Todd

I will look at that.

I worry about adding GP objects to the default ADE. There are instances where they don't work well, and people will not know that this is not a default FS object.

I thought about that as well. Not sure its the best move. I think the ADE and GP options should be kept separate to avoid any confusion with newcomers. They will not know how to explain the difference if it looks like a 'stock' option and they have problems.

Thanks Tom but I am not sure I understand...

Hi Jon,

I assume he wants you to add this enhanced centerline option to the properties box for a taxiway. Instead of No Line or Solid Line you would check the box called Enhanced Line. Then you would create a taxiway without a default center line, and also create a GP line using the enhanced center line texture between the two nodes instead.

Well, if it was available through ADE, then it could be removed from the GP editor. Correct? No?

Todd

Err, no. ADE creates taxiways using BglComp and there is no way to create anything other than default centre-lines.

Has keyboard entry for ILS glide slope and DME been suggested yet? If not, then I would like it to be added to the list.

Also, since this didn't appear on the list, I would like to suggest the ability to add Intersections, Low/High Altitude Airways/Jetways and Airspace Boundaries.

And perhaps the ability to add VORs, ADFs, Intersections, Low/High Altitude Airways/Jetways, and Airspace Boundaries independent of any airports.

Jon,
would it be possible to add "Library Objects" to the "Lock/Unlock" lists,
many terminals are made up with 5/6/7 library objects, so when working around them i quite often inadvertently move one of them a fraction,
i know i can lock them individually but one click would lock everything, and it's not just terminals

I have the same wish for GP Objects

I'd like to have a taxiway edge feature like there is for runways. Some taxiways, especially at big airports will have 2-3 foot edges on either side of the taxiway edge lines.

I do not think that can be done with the XML coded taxiways generated by BglComp. I am sure somone will come up with suggestions but I can offer using aprons under the taxiways, generating them not using ADE but with GMax or similar or perhaps using the GP Polys feature that is in the current 1.60 beta and developed by Don (Gadgets).

Or you could use a wider taxiway and a narrow taxiway on top of each other?

I am not sure when it happened, some time after 1.50, I am talking about my inability to click on a taxiway or polygon to make the vertex points clickable.

Maybe it is me, but I have a dog a time trying to click taxiways so can I edit them. Usually I will hold Shift and click a few of them to edit the properties, at least I attempt to. But if I make a mis-click, I lose all my previous selected taxiways. Or if the taxiways are too short, they are next to impossible to highlight. As for the polygons, trying to find the sweet spot to highlight the polygon is a hassle too. I end up zooming way in hoping that will make it easier.

So, please, in future versions, could you make clicking taxiways and polygons a bit easier?
