• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS Blender Bones and Moving People

So this has started in the flag animation thread, but I think it deserves to have a thread of its own. I'm trying to animate a human, just like many of us are trying to, but weird things are happening, the animation in MFS does not look even close to what we see in Blender. Post your...

MSFS Triggering Hangar door animation in SimObject by distance?

I'm trying to figure out how to trigger hangar door animation based on distance. The idea is to play the opening animation once when inside or close to the hangar, and play the closing animation when farther away. I was able to create a normal animation with scenery objects, and a flag waving in...

    MSFS Multi-room Parallax material. Finally!

I think I finally mastered multi-room parallax texture properly. Here's the test video with a simple cube building. Emission works too. What's funny is that rooms are randomized somehow by the sim. They are showing in a different order than I have them in my background texture. Same for emission...

Is there by any chance somebody who's gonna update / maintain the Blender2MSFS aka MSFSToolkit for next blender's versions, and maybe do some bugfixing? Wondering because still exporting LODs that way is tedious, as the internal LOD exporting is buggy. Also something's weird with rigged model...

3D Studio Max plugins in the SDK? What do they do?

I'm very curious what the 3D Studio Max plugins included in the SDK provide. Do they offer things that Blender's GLtf import/export don't? What are the pros and cons of using 3DS vs Blender for developing mods and assets for MSFS? I'm an experienced 3D art professional, but just trying to get...

MSFS Parallax glass - no reflection... Any ideas?

I’ve been using parallax windows/interiors but the glass is not reflecting, no matter what I do. I used it in small buildings on individual windows before, but now I tried a large one, with multi-room parallax texture. It’s working OK, although with a surprising effect that seemingly the actual...

What reference to use to model aircraft parts without Blueprints?

Hello everyone, I have a question regarding the modelling of aircraft parts of which blueprints do not exist. What I mean is, how should i model things like the cockpit without an exact reference like a blueprint. (I've never seen something like a blueprint of a cockpit) Of course I'm familiar...

    MSFS Weird Texture in Glass

Hello everyone, I've been trying to get full reflections from all angles on my windows. I've tried msfs_glass and msfs_standard, set the roughness to 0, metallic to 100, played around with the reflections parameters, but reflections can only be seen from a very sharp angle. Is there a way to...

    Help with MSFS Package build.

I have a 3D model from blender and I do the blender to msfs thing. When I go to build the package I get 5 errors and I am not able to see my model on the scenery editor / objects. I done this before and it was working but now 2 months later it doesn’t. The errors are different than before and...

    Where to get accurate blueprints?

Hello everyone, I tried to model various aircraft in blender with blueprints from the-blueprints.com. But i never got far in the process because the three sides of the blueprint have never matched the others. I guess they are just not that accurate. I also heard that even some of the paid...

FSX Ground poly disappearing below ground

I created the ground poly in Blender and exported it via ModelConverterX Ground Polygon Wizard. At certain areas of the airport, the ground polys dip below the ground and disappear- I'm assuming this is because of the curvature. What I've tried: -I've tried cutting and grouping the polygons...

MSFS 3D-Model broken after import into msfs2020

Hello Guys, I have a Problem with importing a 3d-model of an aircraft carrier into the msfs2020 sim. In blender and any other 3d-modeling software my finished model looks great. But when I import it into the msfs, some parts are positioned wrong or have a wrong rotation. Below are two...

Blender Selecting and editing all vertices from all collections at once

Hello! I am creating photogrammetry sceneries for the MSFS 2020 by downloading the data with Google Earth Decoder with different LODs. Unfortunately, with Google Earth Decoder you can only download rectangular sceneries that contain parts you don't need. Idealy, you could select the desired...

    MSFS glass problems

Hi! I have a problem where glass that is further away is overdrawing the one closer to the camera. Unfortunately, using different draw orders is not possible here, because the glasses can be viewed from both sides. I also tried different glass occluding situations and it's behaving super...

Austin Sass Blender 2.8 Script Error (solved)

I'm trying to run a script for Blender in order to speed up modelling but the script was for previous versions of blender. Specifically, the line "bpy.context.scene.objects.active" (bold) is supposedly no longer used by Blender. I don't quite understand what I should replace that line with in...
